GERMANY

This is a homemade card a statue in Magdeburg, Germany.  The statue is of Otto von Guericke who is best known for establishing the physics of vacuum.

SINGAPORE

This is a view of the Esplanade in Singapore.  It is a performing arts center with lots of stores and restaurants in downtown Singapore.

GREAT BRITAIN

This is a doll from the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh.  This is a museum of toys from little towns, ancient doll house, small kitchen utensils, to princess dolls.  This one is shoe doll.

FINLAND

From all the cards I've received from Finland, I've gotten the impression it is a very beautiful place!  This is another good example.  The woman who sent this card stated that where she is from, near Jakosbstad/Pietarsaari, gets more snow than is shown in the Winter view.  I can only imagine how cold it is up there.  A place my husband and I would like to visit someday.

FRANCE

This is a few of Strasbourg, France which is near the border with Germany.  Strasbourg's historic city centre, the Grande Ile ("Grand Island"), was classified a World Hertiage site by UNESCO in 1988, the first time such an honor was placed on an entire city centre.

NETHERLANDS

One of my favorite countries (it helps that my husband's family is from there).  The tulips are beautiful.  I'll actually be there in May -- I can't wait.  The person who sent this card is from Tilburg.

GERMANY

This card shows numerous views of Cloppenburg.  The town is the center for the largerly architectural area of Oldenburg.  It looks like a very nice town to visit.

BRAZIL

My first card from South America.  This is a view of Praca da Liberdade or Freedom or Liberty Square in Belo Horizonte.  The city is completely surrounded by mountains.

This card could be from central Finland as the scenery is simliar.  It looks cold!

ESTONIA

On this postcard is one of Estonia's biggest rivers called Emajogi.  In English it means mother river.  It flows from Lake Vortsjarv through Tartu County into Lake Peipus, crossing the city of Tartu.  The photo below the river is the Tartus Town Hall Square.  It looks like a beautiful city.

PORTUGAL

This is a beautiful view of São Jorge, Açores in Portugal.  This is a island in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Portugal.  It looks beautiful.

RUSSIA

This is one of my favorite cards so far.  I love the contrast of the snow with the moque.  The sender wrote in Russian on the card (I've asked for senders to write in their own language) but of course, this means I can't read it :).  But still great to see!  So I'm not sure what this is a picture of but it's beautiful.

NETHERLANDS

This is a view of Woudenberg, a town in the central Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht.  The name Woudenberg refers to a forested hill. 

Tweenyz wrote in Dutch on the back of the card (and I can actually read it):  Gelukkig nieuw jaar.  Ik wens jou en degen en die je lief sijn een heel bijzonder en gelukkig jaar. (Happy New Year.  I wish you and the ones you love a very special and happy year).

GERMANY

This card is actually a view from Thailand.  The German who sent it spent some time in Thailand last summer.  I'm guessing this is a detail of a temple.

This is a beautiful snowy scene of Finland.  The card does not state where in Finland, although the sender is from near Helsinki.

TAIWAN

This postcard is of a temple in Taiwan (not sure which one).  It shows some of the traditional wood architecture.

GERMANY

This is a view of Essen in Germany.  Essen is in the west part of Germany in the central part of the Ruhr area, on the River Ruhr.  It used to be on of Germany's most important coal and steel areas.  In 1958, the city was chosen to serve as the seat to a Roman Catholic diocese.
